The silver coin is issued by the Republic of Somalia and manufactured by the Bavarian State Mint.
The new design for 2019 features a large adult elephant raising its truck towards the tree leaves. The elephant stands in tall grass with a background setting that includes a winding river, the sun and a bird. The inscriptions around the outer edge are “ELEPHANT”, “AFRICAN WILDLIFE” and “1 oz Ag 999.9”. The coin edge is reeded and slightly raised which protects the motif from damage.
The value side shows the coat of arms of Somalia. The shield has a five pointed star in the center and is framed by leopards on either side. Below the shield are two feathers wrapped in a ribbon. The engraving on the top outer edge is “SOMALI REPUBLIC”. The face value of “100 SHILLINGS” can be seen on the bottom. The date of issue is split on either side of the coin with “20” on the left and “19” on the right. An ornamental circle of dots surrounds the outer edge.
