The 2017 Silver Lunar Rooster 5oz provides investors and collectors with a beautifully designed higher weight silver coin. These coins are .9999 fine silver and are one of the purest silver coins in the world.

2017 is 10th animal in the 12 year Chinese zodiac cycle. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar Rooster are 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005 and 2017. Those born under this sign are said to be honest, hard working, loyal and sociable.

The Lunar Rooster is struck from 99.99% pure silver, which is the highest purity in a silver coin. 2017 is the first year that the coin is being minted with this high level of fineness. The front of the 2017 Rooster shows and image of a rooster, hen and three chicks. The rooster is pictured standing in a proud posture, while the hen and chicks are searching for food. Under the motif at the bottom of the coin the words “Year of the Rooster” are embossed.

The reverse side of the 2017 Rooster depicts the iconic image of Queen Elizabeth II. The image was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The image of the Queen is a popular motif on all commonwealth coins.

Surrounding the top outer edge of the coin is the inscription “Elizabeth II” and “Australia”. Embossed around the bottom edge are the fine weight “5oz 9999 AG” the year “2017” and nominal value of “8 Dollars”.
