The Lunar II series from the Perth Mint started in 2008 with the “Year of the Mouse” and  ends in 2019 with the “Year of the Pig”. We are happy to offer a few copies of the 2009 Lunar II Ox 1 kilo silver coin to interested investors and collectors. The coins are in perfect condition and are sold in their original packaging. The Lunar II Ox is the second edition of the series.

Year of the Ox

The Ox is the second Chinese zodiac sign. The birth years of the Lunar Ox are 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, and 2021.

The motif side of the Lunar II Ox 1 kilo silver coin shows an Ox and her calf standing in the meadow with mountains in the background. The animals are depicted in a stylized, detailed and realistic manner. Above the motif is the Chinese character for Ox. In the middle, on the left side is the letter "P", standing for the Perth Mint. The inscription on the bottom outer edge reads "Year of the Ox".

The value side shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with crown. The portrait of the queen was designed by artist and engraver Ian Rank-Broadley. Under the portrait are his initials "IRB". The inscription reads: "Elizabeth II Australia ● 1KG 999 2009 30 Dollars"
