Minted by the South African Mint the Krugerrand contains 916/1000 pure gold or 22 karat. But each Krugerrand contains 1oz (or fractions) of pure gold and is therefore a bit heavier. Since 1980 the South African Mint offers fractional sizes beginning with 1/10oz.'
