Product Description

The Krugerrand is the worlds most known and traded coin. Starting in 1967 the Krugerrand was produced over 57 million coins or 48 million ounces to the very day.

Minted by the South African Mint the Krugerrand contains 916/1000 pure gold or 22 karat. But each Krugerrand contains 1oz (or fractions) of pure gold and is therefore a bit heavier. Since 1980 the South African Mint offers fractional sizes beginning with 1/10oz.'

Obverse shows the Paul Kruger president in the time from 1882 until 1902 of South Africa. Paul was a son of German immigrants and loved nature and animals. He had 16 kids with his second wife Gezina du Plessis after his first wife died with his first child of malaria.

Inverse shows the Springbok the national animal of South Africa. The front was designed by Otto Schulz and inverse by Coert Steynberg.
