The 2018 Dragon 1 ounce silver coin is Perth Mints first rectangular bullion coin. This is another unique and brilliantly designed product from the renowned Perth Mint. Because of the limited mintage, the Dragon rectangular silver coin is ideal for both investors and collectors.
The 2018 Dragon 1 oz rectangular bullion coin is also available in gold.
Struck from 99.99% pure silver, the Dragon rectangular 1 ounce silver coin builds on the interest in Asian design themes highlighted by the success of the Lunar coin program.
Although the Rectangular Dragon looks like a silver bar, the legal tender status along with the face value of 1 Dollar, classifies it as a coin.
The 2018 Dragon 1 oz rectangular silver coin will have a maximum mintage of 500,000 coins.
The motif side of the coin shows a Dragon, which is the most powerful mythical creature in Chinese culture. The Dragon is depicted chasing a flaming pearl believed to have the mystical power to grant people their wishes. Historically, the Dragon was closely linked to the Chinese Emperor and was a symbol of imperial power. Other than the motif, the only engraving is the letter “P”, which represents the Perth Mint.
The value side depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with crown. Below the portrait are the initials “IRB”, which represent artist and engraver Ian Rank-Broadley. The engravings across the top outer edge read “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA 1 OZ 9999 Ag”. The date of issue “2018” and face value “1 DOLLAR” can be seen on the bottom.
