The China Panda Silver coin is issued by the People’s Republic of China. The first Silver Panda’s were only issued in proof quality from 1983-1985 with a purity of 90% silver. The Silver Panda was not issued in 1986 or 1988.
In 1987, the purity of the Panda was increased to .999 fine silver. The Silver Panda has been issued by the China Mint every year as an investment grade silver bullion coin since 1989.
The 2019 China Panda silver coin has a fineness of .999 silver and a nominal value of 10 Yuan.
In 2016, the People’s Republic of China changed the weighting system of the Panda from ounces to grams. The 1 ounce Silver Panda was replaced with this 30 gram Silver Panda.
The China Mint changes the design of the Silver Panda every year, but the motif will always depict one or more Pandas in their natural environment.
The new design for 2019 depicts the image of a Giant Panda Bear comforting a baby Panda. In the background is a mountain setting. The engravings are the nominal value of 10 Yuan and the fine weight and purity shown as “30 g Ag.999”.
The reverse side of the coin depicts the Temple of Heaven and the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. The Temple of Heaven is one of the most famous landmarks in Beijing. The inscriptions that surround the outer edge are the date of issue “2019” and the country of origin, which is written in Chinese characters and translates as “PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA”.
