The new 2016 China Panda 30g silver coins are now available. The coins have a fineness of 999/1000 with a fine weight of 30g silver. Each year the design of the Panda changes, which makes the Panda series attractive to collectors. The only year the design did not change was in 2002. The design for 2002 was the same as 2001. The People’s Republic of China produces the Panda and guarantees the quality of the coin. The 2016 Silver Panda 30g coin is more unique in that it is the first year with the new metric gram weighting system. Chinese Panda coins are minted every year in both Silver and Gold and are the official bullion product of the Chinese mint, which is run by the Chinese government. China Panda gold and silver coins have good brand recognition around the world and are popular amongst both investors and collectors.

China Panda gold coins have been issued by the People's Republic of China since 1982. One year later in 1983, the first Silver Panda was introduced to the market. The first Silver Panda had a weight of 27g with a fineness of 900/1000. The 27g Silver Panda coins were produced until 1985 and replaced by 1oz and 5oz Silver Pandas with an increased fineness of 999/1000 in 1987. From 1988 onwards 12oz Pandas were also minted. The 1oz Silver Panda came to the market in a brilliant, uncirculated version in 1989. In addition, ½ oz and 1 kg Pandas were produced in silver in various years.
The China Panda 30g silver coin has an edge bar and a rippled edge. The edge bar supports the coin’s optic and has the function to enhance security and stability. In addition the edge bar protects against surface scratches and allows for better stackability.
For the 2016 edition, the annually changing theme of the front shows a Panda on a tree trunk. The background depicts bamboo and bamboo leaves. Slightly oblique below the motif the denomination 10 Yuan is imprinted. On the border side below the subject the fine weight, metal and fineness is stamped as "30g Ag 999".
Every year the back depicts an image of the famous Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The motif is surrounded by a wide edge bar which also contains the inscription. Imprinted are the Chinese characters 中华人民共和国 which mean "People’s Republic of China". Below the motif the year 2016 can be seen.
