Product Description

The China Panda 1 oz gold coin was first introduced in 1982 by the People’s Republic of China. Since then, the gold coin is issued with annually changing panda designs on the value side. Each new design will show one or more pandas in their natural environment.

The purity of China Panda gold coins is 999/1000. The 2009 edition is available in 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz sizes.

Appearance

The edge bar is reeded and slightly raised which protects the motif from damage and scratches. As an additional protective measure, individual coins are packaged in a sealed plastic case. To avoid depreciation, the coin should remain in its original packaging.

Motif side:

The motif page shows the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, which has graced the motif page of the China Panda since the first edition in 1982. The Temple of Heaven is in the center and shown against a smooth background. The year of issue "2009" is embossed below the motif. On the top outer edge the country of origin is inscripted in Chinese characters and translates as "Chinese People's Republic".

Value Side:

The value side of the coin depicts two pandas sitting on the ground eating. In the background are bamboo shoots and leaves. The motif is very detailed showing the different colors of the pandas and the fur hair. Below the pandas is the fine weight and purity "1oz Au .999". The nominal value of 500 Yuan is inscripted on the top outer edge.
