The Australian Kookaburra silver coin series was introduced in 1990 and is the longest running silver coin program from the Perth Mint. The 2019 edition not only features a new Kookaburra design, but also depicts the new 6th generation effigy of her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, created by Jody Clark.

The front side of the coins depicts a Kookaburra perched on a tree branch with a rippling waterway below. The engravings are “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA”, “2019 1KILO 9999 SILVER” and the letter “P”, which stands for the Perth Mint.
The reverse side shows the new 6th generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The new portrait depicts the Queen with a Royal Crown and coronation necklace. The inscriptions around the outer edge are “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “30 DOLLARS”.
The Kookaburra is the largest member of the Kingfisher bird species and is native to Australia.
